Negroponte, las ve negras en la isla
En una entrevista con Charlie Rose, distribuida por el Departamento de Estado, John Negroponte dice que todavía no ha visto cambios en Cuba bajo el gobierno de Raúl Castro y aunque lo considera diferente de su hermano, aclara que no lo es "lo suficiente". El texto como me llegó:
MR. ROSE: Before I leave Latin America, there is also Cuba.
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Yes, sir.
MR. ROSE: Do we expect different things from Raul Castro?
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Well I certainly have not seen any sign of encouragement yet, and I think that the challenge with respect to Cuba is how to keep the hope for freedom alive, and the prisoners have not been released. Probably the most important single thing that the regime could do would be to -- if it wanted to show some interest in a political opening, in that country, would be to release the political prisoners, because they, after all, are part of --
MR. ROSE: You mean the Cuban political prisoners they're holding.
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Exactly. The Cuban political prisoners –
MR. ROSE: You know what people would say --
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: -- begin -- let me just make one step --
MR. ROSE: Okay.
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: -- towards taking a step towards a more pluralistic society.
MR. ROSE: Is that because of how many former Cubans are in Miami? Because there are political prisoners held by a thousand governments we deal with. Egypt, for example. Russia. They have political prisoners, do they not?
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Yes, and –
MR. ROSE: China, especially China.
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: And we pressure them.
MR. ROSE: But it's no different. Why don't we hold them up and say release political prisoners. George Shultz, on this program, former Secretary of State, who you admire --
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Indeed.
MR. ROSE: You know what his policy is. You know what he thinks about the Cuban embargo policy? He thinks it's a terrible idea. Do you? What's the argument for the Cuban embargo today, so that they'll release political prisoners?
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: No. The argument is that it's a repressive regime. And look, this is a policy. Charlie, this is a policy that has existed for as long as I have been --
MR. ROSE: I know. But I can't believe --
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: -- a career diplomat.
MR. ROSE: I know, but I can't believe you believe in the policy. I really can't.
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Well, here's what --
MR. ROSE: You might not be able to speak to it, because you're the Deputy Secretary of State. But here's the former Republican Deputy Secretary of State, has had more cabinet positions than any other --
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Well, I don't see any (inaudible) out there in the Congress or elsewhere for lifting the embargo. I really don't.
MR. ROSE: And that's the reason it hasn't been lifted.
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Right. Well that’s one of the reasons. But it, I mean, let’s keep our eye on the Cuban problem, which is that it’s a repressive regime. And this -- the passage of Castro could be, could be an opportunity for a real change in the political scene. You mentioned these other countries. But we’re talking about our hemisphere. And in this hemisphere, if you look at the evolution of the past 25 or 30 years, every government -- virtually every government, I think every government is democratic save one. And that’s the government of Cuba. I mean, the picture’s a heck of a lot better than when the --
MR. ROSE: Venezuela’s a democratic government?
DEPUTY SECRETARY
NEGROPONTE: Well, that’s the -- the -- probably the one where you have to -- where that -- democracy has been put under severe stress in recent years. But if you look at the hemisphere today compared to the way it looked in 1970 or ‘75 or 1980, I mean, things really have changed. And Cuba is kind of the outlaw here.
MR. ROSE: (Inaudible).
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: They’re the odd man out.
MR. ROSE: There is some indication that Raul is different from his brother, isn’t there?
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Some, but not -- not enough.
MR. ROSE: What would happen when Castro dies? What’s likely to happen?
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Well, I --
MR. ROSE: What does your intelligence show you? What does your -- I mean, you used to be the head of intelligence.
DEPUTY SECRETARY NEGROPONTE: Well I -- but I would tell us that, you know, we don’t have that great an insight as to the internal dynamics of Cuba. I think a number of people would say to you, well, maybe when he dies that might be the point at which people are willing to come out and take more of a chance to try and really force some kind of a political change. I don’t know. I really don't know. But I think it’s important to try and keep the hope for freedom alive in that country.

Por esta actitud asumida por NEGROPONTE, es que los comunistoides han logrado apoderarse de varios países para masacrarlos y arruinarlos.
¿ Por qué no dice claramente de una vez y por todas que en Cuba no se respetan los derechos humanos, que existe la tortura, que no existen juicios verdaderos, que se arman pandillas para patear a pacíficos manifestantes, y un largo etc ?
Los comunistoides, apenas ven algo anormal, se encargan de propagandearlo muy bién. ¿ Por qué USA no se defiende arremetiendo contra esos asesinos, divulgando con pelos y señales las atrocidades que ellos cometen ?
Es muy fácil que los comunistoides vendan un panorama desolador a un pobre campesino, por ejemplo. Por eso, precisamente, es que hay que hacer propaganda, para defender a la Democracia y salvar así nuestra forma de vida.
Y que hace Richard Gere al lado de
Negroponte ?Por la cara parece que no entiende ni papa de lo que este
habla.Ira a hacer una pelicula sobre el tema? Ira a interpretar a Raul Castro ?
esto demuestra el nivel de estupidés que existe en todos los niveles del gobierno en relación a cuba. en el fondo saben que están perdidos, que han fracasado, pero no dan el brazo a torcer. es como lo de iraq, seguimos perdiendo vidas, recursos, empantanando américa como nunca antes, pero allí seguimos. y si gana mccain más de lo mismo. por suerte vivimos en una pais donde no hay cultura de golpe de estado, pero en cualquier nación del mundo ya este bush y su pandilla hace rato estarían fuera del juego.

yo sabia que iban a hacer esa pregunta y por eso escogi esa foto. Gere estaba asistiendo a una audiencia congresional sobre la situacion en el Tibet, del cual es un activista asumido, en la cual Negroponte fue llamado a testimoniar.
Bueno, no creo que Negroponte reaccione muy bien al hecho de que a las dictaduras que EU patrocinaba se les acabo la cuerda y a la de Fidel le quede. Por lo demas, con la habitual ignorancia de este gobierno hacia cuba. O quizas es que los republicanos simpatizan tanto con el gobierno de fidel (de raul ahora) que realmente no les interesa hacer nada. Esa afinidad ideologica con los comunistas los tiene enamorados. O simplemente esta asustado de que los Castro-Diaz Balart la cojan contra el y hasta ahi la carrera de Negroponte. Recordar cual es la familia que domina la politica cubana en la isla y aqui. Ahora que el tio raul esta en el mazo, meterse con el puede ser anatema en Washington.
Una ignorancia constante que se ve en todas partes eslo que està pasando con los que estàn aun retenidos del Grupo de los 75. Porquè no se les dice REHENES igual que los que tienen las FARC? Son rehenes cambiables por los 5. La Momia Viviente le prometiò al rebaño que estarìan pronto de regreso. Simplemente una forma de chantaje.
Es muy curioso que un tipo de un tenebroso perfil en distintos gobiernos republicanos y democratas, haga recuerdos de como era Latinoamerica en los anos 70,75,80 y como esta ahora.
Tiene,sin duda, (in the back of his mind), una anoranza por aquellos anos de golpes de estado,dictaduras sangrientas,represivas,de torturas,de desaparecidos y de muertos,sin ningun juicio previo.
El,era un activo y diligente enviado de Nixon y Kissinger,en el continente.
Hoy,frente a una comision del Congreso norteamericano, pareciera querer pontificar sobre libertad y democracia e incluso dar lecciones de ello.Eso se llama descaro.
Solo si uno fuera ignorante o no leyera dia a dia los periodicos de todo el mundo.
No hay peor ciego que negroponte,perdon,que el que no quiere ver.
